CEMPAKA KU GEMILANG

Dari jauh megah berdiri

Tersergam indah teguh jauhari

Namamu disebut di bibir meniti

Di setiap pelusuk ruang universiti

Warganya santun ramah dan mesra

Sedia berbakti dan sentiasa bersedia

Cemerlang dan ceria itulah Cempaka

Menjadi lambang kebanggaan bersama

Kolej Cempaka seharum namamu

Berintegriti, bersatu dan berilmu

Kami setia bersamamu

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahiwabarakatuh and warm greetings to all,

 Welcome to Cempaka College!

Cempaka College is the youngest college from a total of 8 colleges in UNIMAS. Despite being the youngest, we always believe that we can cope with the other colleges’ achievements and experiences by giving our fullest effort and commitment to every service that we provide.

This college has the capability to accommodate more than 1700 residents at one time, and we are equipped with other facilities such as guest houses, seminar rooms, computer room, air-conditioned meeting room and recreational room. For students, which are our main customers, we provide facilities to support their living and study here in UNIMAS. Among the facilities are cafeterias, gymnasium, outdoor court for basketball, volleyball, sepak takraw, netball and futsal, minimart, and coming soon is the laundry service for our residents’ convenience. We also provide accommodation for visitors from outside UNIMAS at rational charges. Currently, we receive visitors almost every month and we are happy to provide them services at the best we can.

In terms of students’ development, I believe that residential colleges play an important role to mould the characteristic and mentality of the students. As a saying says “education begins at home”, we always try to develop the necessary soft skills in the students since the college is their “home” during their study here in UNIMAS. Being a student does not mean going to class and study in your own room only. What we wish to achieve is a student that can excel both in studies and social life; to be exact, posses a good soft skills to help them to succeed in life after university. Therefore, we have our students’ representative committee (also called JPK) to plan and conduct the activities for the residents of the college. Students are able to involve actively in various activities ranging from indoor activities to outdoor activities.  This will help develop their communication and leadership skills, not to mention other necessary soft skills which are crucial for their future undertakings.

I do hope that all our residents are proud to be one of Cempaka College’s resident, as it means that we manage to provide the best for the residents. Student life is meaningful if we enjoy it to its fullest, and that does not mean we only do our own business, but to involve ourselves in activities and make friends with other residents in the college. With the theme “Cemerlang dan Ceria”, we hope that all residents will have a memorable moment during their stay here in Cempaka and at the same time, excel in their future undertaking.

Thank you.

Cempaka Residential College is the eighth and the latest addition to the residential colleges in UNIMAS. The construction was completed in November 2006 and it was officially opened on 1 July 2007. The college welcomed its pioneer residents during the first intake of the 2007/2008 session.

Strategically located with a magnificent view of the lake in West Campus, Cempaka is only a walking distance from Bunga Raya College and Tun Ahmad Zaidi College,  as well as UNIMAS Chancellery Building, the Faculty of Cognitive Sciences & Human Development, and the Lakeview Café.
